Do Your Best

2 Corinthians 8:10-11

As you can see by the date in the corner this is a photo from awhile back.  Our son is at the piano.  It is the final performance for parents of high-schoolers at a Jazz Camp in upstate New York.  Because of my son's interest in Jazz music I was exposed to it throughout his high school and college years as I attended his performances.  I learned that each musician has a solo in the song where he or she improvises while the others play the chords in the background.  Julie Ackerman Link in a recent Our Daily Bread devotional tells of an incident early in Jazz player, Herbie Hancock's career.  He was playing with the musical legend Miles Davis and played the wrong chord during Davis' solo, but Davis kept on playing.  Hancock said, "He played some notes that made my chord right."  This is what God does with our mistakes when we've tried do our best.  How are we able to do our best?  It is when we do everything for the glory of God.  Jesus' blood covered our biggest mistake and continues to provide a way for us to become all that God created us to be when we keep our eyes on Him.
