Trust and Obey

1 Samuel 15:22

The Proverbs passage says if we will acknowledge God in all our ways He shall direct our paths.  It has always interested me to see deer tracks in the snow.  They are a four-legged creature, yet looking at their tracks you get the impression they only have two legs because their hind feet step into the prints left by their front feet.  This is called "registering" and helps them conserve energy.  We humans, on the other hand, can't do this because we only have two feet.  We need to vacate the first step before we can use it for the second and that is impossible!  I looked up the word "registering" to see why this would be applied to deer tracks.  One of the definitions is "make an impression."  There was a time that people obeyed God because they feared Him, but ever since Jesus paid for our sins, we need no longer fear God.  Now we obey Him because we trust Him....or least, that is how is should be.  Love casts out all fear.  Acknowledging that all we have and are is from God assures that the steps we take will make an impression on the watching world because they will see that we are trusting God.
