The Mighty One

"The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets."
- Psalm 50:1

Lilias Trotter wrote about a sunset much like the one above:  "As we neared Touzer, the eastern hills took on their evening amethyst, with sapphire shadow, like a bit of the walls of the New Jerusalem let down, and the sun sank in a blaze of copper and mulberry purple, with the faintest baby new moon hung above it in the blue."

My sunset was viewed with the backdrop of several small islands in the Rappahannock River in Northern Neck, Virginia.  A little later as we crossed the river upstream we were treated to the blaze of copper. . . .

I am grateful for spectacular sunsets that remind me that God's creation is not something to be taken for granted.
