No Longer Ruled by the Flesh

"The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so."  -Romans 8:7

My Westie is a terrier.  They are "wired" to chase vermin, such as squirrels.  There is nothing I can do about it.  He was so upset to see this squirrel on the bird feeder that I gave him something to stand on to keep him from scratching up the window sill.  If he was outside, you can be sure the squirrel would have been up a tree by now.

Likewise, our minds are "wired" to be hostile to God.  In the flesh our pride will not let us submit to anyone or anything!  That is why we had to "die" to the flesh self and be "born again" into the Spirit.  Because we are still in the flesh we must contend with the urges to "chase after the squirrel," but when we submit our minds to be led by the Holy Spirit who now reigns within us, we will lose the urge to chase after the things of the world.

I am grateful that the things of the world no longer rule me.
