Colossians 3:23
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." I bought this scherenschnitte picture in Lancaster County, PA, where a large community of Amish live. The Amish believe in hard work and order their lives so that they will be reminded that it is God who is their master. They know that human beings are easily distracted and can grow lazy if not diligent. They live in like-minded communities so that they can encourage one another to be faithful. But I don't want to glorify their lifestyle, because they are not infallible. They, too, struggle with sin. Instead, I see them as reminders of people of faith who care more about how God views them than man.
