"One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple." -Psalm 27:4
My photo of the Grand Canyon taken more than 20 years ago does not do it justice. To stand on the rim and look down into the Canyon is an awe-inspiring, breath-taking experience. In today's Our Daily Bread James Banks writes about his experience there:
Whenever I stand at the canyon rim I see new brush strokes of God's handiwork that take my breath away. Even though it's just a (very large) "hole" in the ground, the Grand Canyon causes me to reflect on heaven.Banks writes about a 12-year-old's concern that Heaven would be boring, but Banks feels that "if a 'hole in the ground' can be so overwhelmingly beautiful we can't stop looking at it, we can only imagine the joy of one day seeing the very Source of beauty--our loving Creator--in all of the pristine wonder of the new creation."
Banks concludes, "Every moment in His presence will bring a breathtaking revelation of His beauty and His love."
I am grateful that I have Heaven to look forward to!
