"Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips." - Psalm 141:3
In Ephesians 4:26 we are admonished to not let our anger control us. Often the first expression of our anger is in our words. There is always something going on in this world that calls for us to be angry about, but we must use this anger to energize us to help those who are being persecuted, neglected, or harmed rather than to lash out with our words. With our lips we can incite the hatred hidden in people's hearts to "burst into flames" or we can use our lips to tell the world that love casts out the fear that is fueling their hatred. In loving our enemies we are showing the world that what we say we believe about Jesus Christ is true.
I am grateful that God's love conquers all fear.
