"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength."
-Ephesians 1:18-19
Lilias Trotter wrote in her journal: "An old truth has come to me with vividness this morning in 'the effectual working of His Power.' All power is measured by what it affects, not by the sensations of the medium by which it works.....The ease of strain means increase, not loss, of power."
The water you see flowing through the chutes is turning a wheel that is powering a saw mill at Sturbridge Village--a recreated historical village in Massachusetts. God is like the river. He provides the means by which the wheel is turned which then turns the blade in the saw mill producing boards from the raw timber. We are like the wheel--His instrument by which the work is accomplished. The wheel is turning effortlessly because of the power of the river being channeled through the chutes. The chutes, you could say, contrain the water, like the Holy Spirit's work in us focuses God's power where He wants to use it in furthering His work here on earth. When we acknowledge that it is in Him that we live and move and have our being, His mighty strength can be displayed.
I am grateful that I receive His strength to accomplish all that He has called me to.
