Just like Jesus said you wouldn't put new wine into old wineskins, my resident black snake shed his old skin in order to continue growing. Trying to live a Christian life without shedding your old life is like expecting things around you to change even though you haven't. It's like doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Because God knew we would be unable to shed our old life on our own, He sent His Son, Jesus, to pay for our sinfulness so that we could receive a new life--the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit in us that enables us to change, to shed our old ways, and to grow in righteousness which is pleasing to God.
I am grateful that God enables me to live a righteous life.
