No Limelight

"Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
-1 Corinthians 10:31

Occasionally I will ask my grandchildren to look at the camera so I can get a good photo of their face, but the photos I love most are the ones where I capture an unguarded moment.  Being in the limelight too much at an early age can set children up to be intensely unhappy when that first sibling comes along.

Oswald Chambers writes in his own way about not being in the limelight:
The tendency is to look for the marvelous in our experience; we mistake the sense of the heroic for being heroes.  It is one thing to go through a crisis grandly, but another thing to go through every day glorifying God when there is no witness, no limelight, no one paying the remotest attention to us......The test of the life of a saint is not success, but faithfulness in human life as it actually is....the aim is to manifest the glory of God in human life, to live the life hid with Christ in God in human conditions.

I am grateful to be able to serve the Lord without needing to be in the limelight.

  1. Following Jesu's example we walk INVISIBLE with our Father of lights, and serve in obscure life helping all we can to bring more light . not in our own egos which must be erased totally, before we gain a true understanding of healing.. of giving, ourselves and of service in the calling of our Lord. invisible humble service.. with rejoicing in obscure deeds.. of holiness at his calling. Blessings in our lessons Merri
