"But when anyone turns to the Lord the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image..." -2 Corinthians 3:16-18
What does freedom look/feel like for you? For my cat, Poetry, who is looking longingly out the window, it would be to go outside. I adopted her from a rescue organization which requires their rescues to be kept indoors. They'd found her at the animal control shelter with a broken leg after being hit by a car. Officially a stray, they took her and paid to have her fixed up. I probably would have kept her indoors anyway because I'd let my previous cat go out and she was attacked on our front steps by a neighbor's cat! I know she wants to go out very badly. She sees our dog be let out the back door and goes and sits by the door expecting to be let out, too. Because I feel for her we decided several years ago to screen in our front porch just so she can be somewhat outside. Little did we know that we'd benefit from the screening-in because now the mosquitoes no longer drive us indoors in the evening. We leave the door to the house open and can move freely between the outdoors and indoors giving us another living room once the temperature moderates.
What is freedom for some is danger for others. The kind of freedom that frees us from feeling threatened by danger comes when the veil is removed from our hearts through belief in Jesus the promised Savior. As we are transformed our lives begin to experience the freedom our hearts seek...freedom from fear. When Christ lives in us His glory is reflected in our thoughts, in our feelings, in our actions, for love conquers all fear.
I am grateful that I can find true, lasting freedom in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I too, am thankful for freedom in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, & our GOD. Every new day is another day to find love & goodness in our daily lives. Thank you for your heartfelt posts. I look forward to reading them daily!
