"It is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." -Philippians 2:13
After we had our woods cleaned up and established several new paths we put up this signpost where the paths intersected. The names of the cities represent where we have family or friends living, and places we've been to or want to go to. We even included mileage.
Lilias Trotter wrote in her journal, "'Thy will be done' not in passive acquiescence but in victorious might." Yes, I agree! To do God's will--to truly do God's will--is to be so one with Him that to do His will is to do your will. Anything you do will be because you want to do it now that your will is His will. In that way He "works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." My signpost clearly lays out the direction and the distance of where I've been, where I want to go. It is that way with God's will, too. If we follow his directions we'll reach our intended destination because it is God who is working in us.
I am grateful that doing God's will is not hard once I trust Him with my life.
It is such a relief when we finally realize we are not in control of anything. Merri
ReplyDeleteYes, it is! So why do we forget so often?!
