"We live by faith, not by sight." -2 Corinthians 5:7
Lilias Trotter wrote in her journal: "One can 'shut the door,' as it were, and stand alone with God over it, as one cannot do on the spot, with the thronging outward distractions of the visible. The fountains in the gardens here spoke of that yesterday. It is the narrowness of the hemmed in channel from the hill that sends it springing."
She was saying that sometimes we can accomplish more by praying in the Spirit at home than being in the midst of the people you are praying for because we will have less distractions. The imagery of the hemmed-in channel brings to mind the brooks we came upon while hiking in the Endless Mountains. They were such small streamlets of water, but when they reached a change in elevation they poured forth with power. Lilias quotes the poet Tennyson: "Prayer is to us the opening of the sluice-gate between my soul and the Infinite." We must never diminish the power of prayer by thinking only action can bring about God's Will.
I am grateful to be able to access the power of God through prayer.
In a wonderful , heartwarming video here if I can attach it, one of our grandpas on the Navajo Reservation talks about water and how sacred it is to the Navajo people. He lived all his life mostly on the edges of the Grand Canyon area.. and at the top the water is a stream... and spills over and goes down, down down , he said. But when it reaches the bottom where their farm was... is, it spreadsout in a fan and the area is semi arid and can grow anything! I love the vision of Living Waters as that is what I renamed our family resort when my parents passed on. I felt it was a place where so many people, all our guests, came over and over and over to the lake.. Eagles Nest Lake, that healed them from a year of strife. I hope I can attach the video here of our Navajo grandfather. I think you will enjoy it a lot. https://youtu.be/QavXvuTdhyA
