Hiding Game

"He said to me, 'Son of man, have you seen what the elders of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol?  They say, 'The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the land.'" -Ezekiel 8:12

In today's Our Daily Bread James Banks compares the children's game of Hide and Seek with how we are able to justify behavior we know violates God's best for us.  As long as we stay in denial we are like a child who covers her eyes and thinks she can't be seen.  But Banks tells us the solution:  "When we were lost and hiding in our sinfulness, God drew near through Jesus, who 'came to seek and to save' us."

In the game of hide and seek, we are the ones hiding and God is the One seeking.  Let yourself be found.

I am grateful that I was found when I was still yet a child.
