"Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end." -Hebrews 12:2
As the Christmas "holiday season" kicks off I want to keep my eyes on the "reason for the season" even more than ever. All the hustle and bustle of making the holiday "jolly and bright" can steer me away from the true meaning of Christmas.
Whenever we take our eyes off Jesus, not only at Christmas but in our daily lives, we are in danger of wandering off the path. It's like when driving a car--we are told to look ahead in order to stay within the lane. When we look ahead we also are scanning what's along the road for possible hazards. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, our hearts and minds will also be focused on Him. And because He knows and sees all He alerts us to possible hazards to be avoided to the point we no longer have to deliberate what to do--it just comes naturally. But even more than navigating life with Jesus' help, keeping our eyes on Jesus is crucial to our faith from the beginning, when it saves us, to the end when, because we recognize Jesus, we will go with Him when He says "Come."
I am grateful to have eyes of faith with which to see Jesus.
Like my husband and his grandmas and grandpas tell me: Follow God like the point of an arrow.... not looking back , left or fight and your vision is cleared for his miracles to unfold keeping on the straight and narrow dixuaaubf ib a Mighty God!
